Amazon Web Services (AWS) has kicked off construction of its data center campus in Bharat Future City on the outskirts of Hyderabad, India.

Telangana's Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy this week laid the foundation stone for AWS' flagship data center in the region, kicking off the first phase of the project.

As reported by The Hindu, the first phase of development is expected to be completed within two years, while the remaining phases will be executed over the next ten years with a total investment of around Rs 60,000 crore ($6.23bn).

The project is set for 202 acres in Bharat Future City and 98 acres in Chandanvelly.

Details about the number of data center buildings and IT capacity expected at the site have not been provided.
