The Chairman of Kings County Property Investment Limited, Alhaji Hameed Kasumu, has denied allegations that accuse him of being a land-grabber.
He insisted, while reacting to a media report titled “Arraignment of Alleged Land Grabber, Firm Stalled in Lagos” at a press conference in Lagos recently, that a Lagos State High Court had already confirmed his company’s ownership of the disputed Ikoyi property before the criminal proceedings against him.
Kasumu faulted the report, which stated that his arraignment over alleged forcible entry and unlawful possession of a parcel of land at Plot 15, Alexander Avenue, Ikoyi, was stalled because of his absence from court.
He criticised the report for presenting what he described as only one side of the dispute while failing to reflect existing court decisions in favour of his company.
He noted that the publication neither sought his response before publication nor considered the history of the case, describing the omission as contrary to the ethics of journalism and the principle of fair hearing.
