The Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, Oyo State, on Tuesday, held an interfaith thanksgiving and prayer session to thank God for the safe rescue of the spouses of two members of staff and other abductees by kidnappers in Orire Local Government Area of the state.

The gathering was attended by principal officers of the institution, including the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Razaq Kalilu; Registrar, Mrs Olayinka Balogun; Bursar, Mr Kehinde Olatokun; Librarian, Prof Adefunke Ebijuwa; Deans, Heads of Departments, clerics and other members of staff.

The PUNCH reports that 44 schoolchildren and their teachers were abducted during a coordinated attack at Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Yawota, L.A. Primary School, and Community Grammar School, Ahoro-Esienle, on Friday, May 15, 2026, and were rescued unharmed on Friday, July 10, 2026, after 56 days in captivity.

While expressing gratitude to God for His mercy and faithfulness, the VC, Prof Kalilu, said, “The university community gathered as Christians, Muslims and people of other faiths to offer thanksgiving and pray for continued peace, security and divine protection over LAUTECH, Ogbomosoland, Oyo State and Nigeria at large.

“The kidnapping incident became more personal when it was discovered that the families of two members of staff were among those affected.
