Air Peace has concluded the Federal Government’s evacuation exercise from South Africa, returning the final batch of 308 Nigerians and bringing the total number of evacuees to 1,393 across five flights.

The airline disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, saying the final evacuation flight arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, at 11:28 a.m. aboard its Boeing 777-200 aircraft, marking the end of the humanitarian operation coordinated by the Federal Government in partnership with Air Peace.

According to the statement, the returnees were received by the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, alongside senior immigration officials on behalf of the Federal Government.

The airline said Dabiri-Erewa sympathised with the evacuees over their experiences during the crisis and conveyed President Bola Tinubu’s assurance of the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting their reintegration and welfare.

It added that the NiDCOM boss commended the collaboration that made the evacuation possible and praised Air Peace and its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Allen Onyema, for supporting the exercise.
