Ambassadors of EU member states again failed to agree on the final content of the 21st sanctions package against Russia, but they did agree to extend the deadline for the price cap on Russian oil from July 15 to July 23.
A European diplomat familiar with the discussions stated this to Ukrinform on condition of anonymity.
This avoided an automatic upward revision of the price of Russian oil, which would have taken place today if there had been no decision to extend the freeze at the current level of $44.10 per barrel.
Meanwhile, the diplomat added, EU member-state ambassadors will continue working on unresolved issues in the sanctions package, including the economic and technical consequences of the proposed measures for member states.
