If you get your information from mainstream media or progressive political outlets, the recent debate over ICE tactics and mass-deportation policies during the second Trump administration is one-sided. Whipped on by quotas and undermined by haste and poor training, immigration enforcement agencies are constantly overreaching and providing horrifying social-media content to their many critics, it seems. More generally, the administration’s mass-deportation efforts appear to be going far beyond its claimed focus on “the worst of the worst.” There’s plenty of evidence that law-abiding immigrants who have been here for years are being targeted and treated abominably.
