Ryan Garcia (25-2, 20 KOs) and Conor Benn (25-1, 14 KOs) will meet in Las Vegas on September 12, Turki Al-Sheikh announced on Wednesday.The 27-year-old won the WBC welterweight world title in February, after a dominant points victory against Mario Barrios. In the aftermath, he called out newly-crowned WBO light-welterweight champion Shakur Stevenson, who became Zuffa’s biggest signing yet last week.“I want to be a great champion, I’m not scared. I fought Devin Haney. I’ll fight you, Shakur Stevenson. I’ll fight anybody,” he said.Although Garcia remains contracted to Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions (despite numerous public feuds and contract disputes), Stevenson told The Athletic he’d “love to face” him. “He’s still got a little ‘chip’ supposedly from when I beat him in the amateurs… Definitely open to making that happen.”But first, Garcia faces his first defence against Benn, 29, who last fought as a welterweight in February 2024. The Brit moved up two divisions, to middleweight, to take on Chris Eubank Jr over the course of two fights in 2025 (losing the first and winning the second) before coming back down in weight to take on Regis Prograis in April. That bout was set at a catchweight of 150lb — some 3 lb above the welterweight limit.Benn left his previous promoters Matchroom in February, signing a one-fight deal with Zuffa Boxing, a fledgling promotional outfit owned by Saudi Arabian entertainment group Sela (who own 60 per cent) and U.S. combat sports giant TKO Holdings. Following that fight — a points victory over Prograis — Benn signed a new promotional deal with Zuffa for five fights, through to 2028.
