The FSB claims drones disguised among ceramic tiles travelled through Europe before a planned strike on Russian military targets.
The Russian security services have accused Ukraine of using Slovakia as part of a covert operation to smuggle attack drones into Russia.
According to the Federal Security Service (FSB), Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) organised a planned strike against military-industrial facilities and officials connected to Russia’s Defence Ministry. Russian investigators say that 35 drones fitted with explosives were moved into Russia after being transported through Slovakia, Poland and Belarus.
The drones were allegedly hidden in a shipment disguised as Spanish ceramic tiles. The FSB claims they were first prepared in Kyiv, then sent across Europe and delivered to a rented warehouse outside Moscow, where they were intended to be launched “in a residential area of the Moscow Region”.
Russian authorities have not released any independent evidence to support their account. The claims were announced by the FSB, an organisation that has played a central role in Russia’s domestic security operations and wartime messaging since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine began in February 2022.
