It’s President Donald Trump in a way he’s never been seen before — pocket-sized, and in a glimmering gold brighter than his signature tan.Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent released photos of the $1 Trump coin as part of America 250, celebrating the nation’s legacy and honoring Trump as a lasting symbol of patriotism.
“As America commemorates 250 years of independence, the @usmint will begin striking this new $1 gold coin to honor the enduring legacy of liberty and a lasting symbol of patriotism. Featuring President Trump, it celebrates the strength of American values, and the promise of a nation dedicated to preserving freedom for all,” Bessent said.

The Commission of Fine Arts approved the proposal in March, allowing the United States Mint to move forward with the project. Federal law does not permit the president’s face to be used on currency, but approval of the project in the context of America’s 250th anniversary allowed its distribution. The Presidential $1 Coin Act of 2005 only permits dollar coins to show the faces of deceased presidents. The coin shows Trump’s face head-on, with the word “Liberty” arched over his face. Underneath it, the dates “1776-2026” are inscribed, noting the country’s 250th birthday.Next to Trump’s face are the words, “In God We Trust.”The U.S. Mint has announced other coin designs for America 250, including four new quarters, one new nickel, and one dime.SCOTT BESSENT UNVEILS ‘PRESIDENT DONALD J.
