An ITV chef has shared that her husband of 38 years died six months ago and that he was killed after being in 'the wrong place at the wrong time' during a robbery15:59, 15 Jul 2026Updated 15:59, 15 Jul 2026An ITV chef has tragically revealed that her husband of almost four decades was killed during a robbery. Parveen Ashraf, also known as Parveen the Spice Queen, was married to Ashraf Qamar Parvez, 68, for 38 years before he died in Ghana six months ago.‌The star, 61, posted a video to her 30k followers on Instagram where she shared the news. She started by saying that she was thinking of returning to work, having shot to fame with her series Parveen's Indian Kitchen, but wasn't sure what that would look like.‌She said: "Hi everyone, it is Parveen the Spice Queen – but I am not even sure if I am still her. I just wanted to come on here as I've been away for a while but I wanted to come and say that I think I am ready to come back to work. But I am not even sure what that means yet. I had a personal tragedy and I lost my husband about six months ago."‌Ashraf continued to say that she knew those that had also suffered grief would understand how "painful" her experience was but that her her husband "wouldn't want me to wallow in self-pity", so she was trying to get on with life.Speaking directly to her husband, she added: "Rest in peace my darling." This comes after she first revealed the death in December. At the time, she said that Parvez was "taken from us tragically and suddenly".‌"He was just in the wrong place at the wrong time and was killed during a robbery in Ghana," she added. Parvez had been living in Ghana at the time.‌According to the BBC, Parvez was shot in November 2025 after he tried to stop thieves stealing his phone whilst at a drinking spot in Tema, a city near Accra. He died in hospital.At the beginning of July, Ashraf shared a tribute post to her husband. The post shared a series of images of the two of them together from over the years and was set to Genesis' 'Follow You Follow Me'."I chose this song as I always told him that wherever he was, I would follow him - and I did," she wrote in the caption. "I left my parents home and followed him to London.‌"He got a contract in Leeds, so I and my two toddlers followed him. He got a job in Peterborough, so I moved there with my two children and one on the way. He went to Ghana and I left the UK and my two eldest children and follow him. He is now in a different realm and I will follow him there too. Rest in peace my darling handsome, stubborn, witty intelligent husband."Parvez was a civil engineer and a property development manager. He and Ashraf married in 1987 and had three children together.
