He stated: If we are attacked by a NATO country, we will respond,” Sikorski said, according to Polish outlet PAP.“That’s why we suspect he plans to prepare Ukrainian drones and use them to attack a NATO country or Russia, and then respond to such an attack. This is the kind of action he might be planning because he’s desperate and losing,” Sikorski added.Other European intelligence agencies also suggested that Russia might test NATO’s resolve by staging minor provocations around the Baltic region, while observers argue that Russia might escalate with NATO to justify a general mobilization amid manpower shortages. The Polish foreign minister added that he believes Moscow lacks the combat capability to attack a NATO member, though Russia’s ongoing hybrid war against Europe, including cyberattacks and election interference, should remain a cause for concern.Sikorski’s comments came after Washington warned Warsaw in early July that Russia may be considering an armed provocation on Polish territory in the coming months to test NATO’s resolve.
