BANYANA Banyana coach Desiree Ellis has called for support ahead of her side's Wafcon quest.

Before Bafana Bafana impressed on the continental and global stage, there was Banyana Banyana. As the national team prepares to return to Wafcon later this month, coach Desiree Ellis hopes the masses will get behind the squad.

Bafana achieved an impressive third-place finish at the 2023 Afcon in Ivory Coast, which paved the way for their recent success before reaching the FIFA World Cup knockout stage for the first time at the ongoing showpiece in the Americas.

Bafana's strides in both tournaments saw fans restore their faith in the team. So much so that Minister of Sport Gayton McKenzie opened a lucky fan competition for the World Cup, allowing the winners to follow the team during the group stage.

Having part of their "12th man" rally behind them in North America truly aided Bafana en route to the next round, as they felt the support both in the stadium and back home.
