TV regulator Ofcom received more than 60 complaints, with the majority relating to Chris Packham's comments.12:52, 15 Jul 2026Chris Packham has sparked major backlash following his comments about Clarkson's Farm.Springwatch and Evolution presenter Chris Packham caused Celebrity Gogglebox viewers to vent to Ofcom after he fumed about Clarkson's Farm. The naturalist appeared on last Friday's episode of the Channel 4 hit along with his stepdaughter, Megan McCubbin, where he commented on Jeremy Clarkson's Prime Video series. After saying the hit show gives an "idealistic view of a farm", Ofcom received a total of 65 Ofcom complaints regarding Channel 4, with the majority of complaints related to Packham’s comments. The BBC presenter had said: "Already, right, that's not what a farm looks like. Most farms are horrible monocultures, which have been sprayed with deadly chemicals time and time again."The ground is pumped full of fertiliser, and loads of the animals are indoors in crates, being crushed and kept in the dark."That's an idealistic view of a farm, and it puts the wrong idea in people's minds. And that's only the titles!"Turning to his stepdaughter Megan, he asked: "What's my blood pressure?"His comments forced Clarkson's Farm stars Jeremy Clarkson and Harriet Cowan to defend the series, with Cowan taking to TikTok to scrutinise him."Chris Packham. Maybe before throwing shade at all farmers, research your facts. What world are you living in?" she shared. In his column for The Sun, Clarkson said Packham's claims were "b******s", recalling the time Packham visited Diddly Squat Farm in 2012."If there had been some animals in a crate, being crushed, I'm sure he would have noticed and said something," Clarkson penned.Fans took to social media to share their thoughts on Packham's input, with one saying on Facebook: "I turn over when he comes on the set."Another commented: "Chris does some good work for animal welfare, but on this occasion he was miles out, he clearly hasn't watched Clarkson's Farm."Jeremy has educated a nation on the struggles that farmers are facing from every from of authority in the UK, from the Government to Local Authorities and community councils."He's certainly opened my eyes and the emotional rollercoaster that we see from Jeremy and his employees is gobsmacking."Many did agree with Packham, however, with one fan saying: "Can you realistically say that the show is good for farming and for protecting our great British countryside?"Roughly 70% of the British countryside is farmland, the overwhelming majority still use pesticides which is not only devastating for animals like pollinators, worms and birds but also contaminates the soil. "Another shared: "He's got his opinion and you got yours, that's freedom of speech."
