The Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) has directed officials to take immediate steps to prevent sewage from entering Durgam Cheruvu, setting Monday (July 20, 2026) as the deadline to divert wastewater to the lake’s sewage treatment plant (STP) and initiate measures to address multiple sources of pollution.During an inspection of the Durgam Cheruvu STP and the Interception and Diversion (I&D) system on Wednesday (July 15, 2026), the CMC Commissioner G. Srijana directed officials to close the vents carrying sewage into the lake by Thursday and ensure that the sewage inflow is diverted to the STP by Monday. Officials were also directed to restore the sewer line affected during the Strategic Nala Development Programme (SNDP) box drain works and take up permanent diversion pipelines to prevent sewage from entering the lake in the future.The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) was asked to examine and address the sewage inflow originating from the T-Hub and Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC) layout area and implement corrective measures.The Commissioner said she would revisit the site on Monday to review the progress of the works and assess compliance with the directions issued during the inspection.
