A main from South Wales has been jailed for orchestrating “swatting” hoax calls in the US, the UK and elsewhere.
Callum Dare, 26, was sentenced to two years and three months at Cardiff Crown Court for his involvement in hoax calls that led to armed police responses, known as “swatting” after the US term SWAT (Special Weapons And Tactics).
The incidents involved a false bomb threat at the University of California, Los Angeles, and a hoax hostage situation at a hotel in central Cardiff.
