A heartbreaking end to the Toyota Gazoo GR at the inaugural GR Legends Rally.
Toyota Gazoo Racing South Africa and motoring journalist Mark Jones and navigator Kes Naidoo came within one stage of an NRC2 podium at the inaugural GR Legends Rally before mechanical protection systems brought their weekend to a frustrating end.
Held at the Soetdoring Venue on the outskirts of Tshwane, the fourth round of the 2026 South African National Rally Championship was the pair's third outing together in the Toyota GR Yaris rally car.
The weekend did not get off to the smoothest start when a gear linkage problem stopped the GR Yaris just a few hundred metres into Thursday's first shakedown run.
With assistance from local dealership Godrich Toyota, the team repaired the linkage and carried out further checks before the start of the rally.
