Controversial businessman Vusimuzi 'Cat' Matlala is expected to testify at the Madlanga Commission.

Alleged crime boss Vusimuzi "Cat" Matlala is set to face intense scrutiny when he appears before the Madlanga Commission on Wednesday, with his testimony expected to delve into allegations of fraudulent police tenders, corruption, the abuse of blue lights and claims of criminal networks operating with the protection of insiders in law enforcement.

The commission, which resumes at 9:30am at the Brigitte Mabadla Justice College in Pretoria, is expected to hear from Matlala in person in what could prove to be one of its most explosive hearings to date.

The commission has identified him as a pivotal witness in its investigation into allegations that criminal syndicates infiltrated key state institutions and cultivated relationships with senior law enforcement officials.

Evidence presented during previous hearings has repeatedly linked Matlala to senior members of the SAPS.
