China's top political adviser Wang Huning will visit the Democratic People's Republic of Korea from Wednesday to Friday, a spokesperson for the International Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee announced on Tuesday.
Wang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, the nation's top political advisory body, will lead a party and government delegation to the DPRK to pay an official goodwill visit at the invitation of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and the government of the DPRK, according to the spokesperson.
Wang's visit takes place amid intensive high-level interactions between the two parties and countries in recent weeks. A highlight is that Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee and Chinese president, paid a state visit to the DPRK early last month.
As Saturday marked the 65th anniversary of the China-DPRK Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance, a milestone for the two socialist neighbors, Xi and DPRK top leader Kim Jong-un exchanged congratulatory messages, with both leaders vowing to enhance strategic communication and take the friendly relations between China and the DPRK to new heights.
