The President of the African Finance Corporation, Samaila Zubairu, and the Lagos Business School have urged African business leaders to embrace strong corporate governance and build Pan-African networks to help companies expand beyond their countries of origin.
They made the call on Tuesday at the Pan-African Leadership Series 3.0 organised by the Global CEO Programme of Lagos Business School, Pan-Atlantic University, in Lagos.
Speaking during a fireside chat, Zubairu said businesses seeking continental expansion must remain focused on their core strengths, uphold non-negotiable governance principles and deliberately build relationships that support growth across Africa.
He said companies should avoid diversifying into unrelated businesses and instead deepen operations within their existing value chains.
