The All Progressives Congress has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu and its candidates will emerge victorious in the 2027 general elections, whether the opposition contests as a united bloc or separately.

APC Director of Publicity, Bala Ibrahim, in an exclusive interview with The PUNCH, said the administration’s reforms would boost the party’s chances of retaining power beyond 2027.

However, the National Publicity Secretary of the Tanimu Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ini Ememobong, argued that opposition unity would not automatically translate into victory, insisting that the parties still had a strong chance of defeating Tinubu even if they contested separately.

The National Chairman of the Action Democratic Party, Yabagi Yusuf Sani, held a different view, warning that continued divisions among opposition parties could once again give the APC an advantage, similar to the outcome of the 2023 presidential election.

In the 2023 election, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar contested as the PDP’s presidential candidate, while former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi flew the flag of the Labour Party.
