Some lobby organizations that work for environmental organizations also work for the fossil fuel industry.

Lobbyists that represent some of Canada’s biggest fossil fuel polluters are also lobbying on behalf of organizations trying to fix the climate crisis.
That’s one key finding from the U.S. non-profit F Minus, which since 2023 has been poring over lobbying databases across North America and identifying lobbyists who are aiding climate obstruction.
In October 2025, F Minus issued its first report focused on Canada, titled “Canada’s Climate-conflicted Lobbyists.” Following DeSmog reporting on that study, several climate-focused organizations ended their relationships with fossil fuel lobby groups, including, according to F Minus, the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan, the Canadian Medical Association, and the Prostate Cancer Centre.
