The United States and Iran have traded more blows as their interim peace deal unravels, with the US reportedly striking Iran’s southwestern Khuzestan province and Iran targeting US allies and shipping in the Gulf.

The attacks on Tuesday left the June 17 memorandum of understanding aimed at ending the US-Iran conflict apparently dead and brought new insecurity to the strategic Strait of Hormuz, which the US has pledged to be the “guardian” of while restarting a blockade of Iranian ports.
