The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Tuesday launched EduLife 2.0, a portal to digitise student records, academic planning, school administration and parent engagement across its more than 1,500 primary schools. The portal, launched by Delhi Mayor Pravesh Wahi, is intended to centralise data from MCD schools, enabling education officials to access information directly instead of repeatedly seeking reports from schools for Right to Information (RTI) applications, House and parliamentary questions, and policy planning. According to the Education Department, a significant part of its manpower has traditionally been engaged in compiling such data from schools. Under the new system, information will be updated periodically on the portal, allowing officials to retrieve records directly and reducing the administrative burden on schools. The portal also provides academic resources, including lesson plans, worksheets, assessment tools, digital planners and teaching-learning material aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Teachers will be able to upload assessment data, monitor students’ progress and access digital content. The department said the system would also reduce paperwork, allowing teachers to spend more time in classrooms. Parents will be able to track their children’s academic progress, mid-day meal records and school activities through the portal. Schools can also upload parent-teacher meeting (PTM) reports and feedback digitally. The platform includes an Alumni Corner and a Success Story section to showcase the achievements of MCD students and connect former students with schools. Speaking at the launch, Mr. Wahi said the initiative would “enhance transparency in academic planning, student progress monitoring, digital teaching resources and school administration” while encouraging greater parental participation in the teaching-learning process. Leader of the House Jai Bhagwan Yadav said adopting the technology might pose initial challenges but would help teachers better assess students’ progress. Education Committee Chairman Yogesh Verma said the names of meritorious students would be uploaded on the portal, enabling sports academies and other organisations to identify and support talented children studying in MCD schools.
