Srinagar: The armed forces launched a search operation on Tuesday across several villages in the Thanamandi area of Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district after CCTV footage purportedly captured the movement of two suspected infiltrators.Officials said the suspected infiltrators were caught on CCTV crossing a road late on Sunday night, prompting the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the J&K Police, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the Army to launch a coordinated search operation in the area.Also Read: Pahalgam attack case: NIA court issues non-bailable warrant against Lashkar-e-Taiba chief Hafiz SaeedFollowing the input, the search operation was launched across Bhanghai, Hasplote, Karyote, Kopra Top and adjoining forest villages to trace the two individuals. The operation was continuing when the last reports were received.The Army, police and intelligence agencies have maintained that foreign infiltrators active across J&K remain a major challenge, even as the number of local militants has fallen to single digits, the lowest in recent years.Meanwhile, a drone was seized on Tuesday from an open field in Samba district of J&K.Officials said the drone was found lying in an agricultural field near Devak by a resident of Chak Salaria, who spotted it while out on a morning run at around 5:50 am. They said the individual immediately informed a nearby Army unit, following which the drone was seized. The drone has been sent for forensic examination to determine its origin, technical specifications and whether it was used for any cross-border activity, officials said.
