The National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Surathkal, hosted the Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC MLORE-11) of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) from July 1 to July 10.The camp brought together approximately 555 National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets, drawn from 18 Kar, 19 Kar, 20 Kar, 21 Kar, 5 Naval Unit, 6 Naval Unit, 6 Air Squadron, 2 Kar Engineer Company, and 4 Kar Engineer Company, under the NCC Group Headquarters, Mangaluru. The camp was led by Group Commander Col Viraj Kamath and Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Nikhil Khullar.The training curriculum covered physical training, drill practice, weapon training, and live firing, along with ground skills including map reading, judging distance, and field craft and battle craft. Cadets also underwent preparation sessions for the NCC B and C Certificate examinations. The camp included group-level Services Selection Board coaching, and 92 cadets were shortlisted for the Directorate-level Thal Sainik Camp, said a release.A Cyber Training session was conducted by B.R. Purushothama, Department of Information Technology, NITK Surathkal. The cadets also took part in environmental conservation, social service, and community development activities during the camp.The training and camp activities were held across the LHC-D, Silver Jubilee Auditorium, Mega Mess, hostels, volleyball courts, and the old sports complex on the NITK campus.
