Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy appeared to take a dig at his past by Donald Trump in stride by publicly sucking up to the president just moments later. While delivering remarks at the White House on Monday about the Freedom 250 Grand Prix showcase, the first major auto race in the nation’s capital, which takes place next month, Trump brought up Duffy’s previous profession. No, not his employment at the Fox Business Network. And not the times Duffy appeared on MTV’s “The Real World: Boston” and “Road Rules: All Stars.” His past practice of climbing “stupid trees.”“He was the world record in going up logs, going up to the top of these stupid trees,” Trump said of Duffy. “I never saw anything like [it] … For five years, he was the world champion. He was a lumberjack. Who the hell knew that about Sean Duffy?” “He was the world champion for five years,” Trump continued. “Going up a tree and coming down. He said going up wasn’t bad. Coming down was very dangerous.” Trump then noted that Duffy had broken his back a couple of times before downplaying the serious injuries as “little things like that.” “But he was the world champion at that. Climbing the tree for five separate times,” he added. Moments after Trump’s comments, Duffy took to the microphone to deliver his own remarks. He explained that lumberjacks used to move logs down rivers, which was one of the first modes of transportation.But then Duffy went on to shower Trump with praise. “Just finally, Mr. President, thank you for your leadership. You don’t do anything that’s small. Everything you do is big. It’s huge. It’s the best. It’s the greatest. Whether it’s the UFC fight [at the White House] or an INDYCAR race in the capital, we appreciate your leadership.
