President Peter Pellegrini says he intends to register and use a revolver presented to him by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at last week’s NATO summit, distinguishing him from other leaders.
The gift, a Turkish-made Gumusay .357 Magnum revolver, was presented to heads of state and government attending the summit together with ammunition and export documentation. Each revolver was personalised with the recipient’s name engraved.
The unusual present attracted attention because diplomatic gifts are typically ceremonial or symbolic rather than fully functioning firearms.
Speaking to Slovak media on his flight home, Pellegrini described the revolver as one of the most impressive gifts he had received during his political career.
