STATELINE, Nev. — It’s been quite an offseason for San Francisco 49ers fullback/tight end(?) Kyle Juszczyk, but he is ready for and actually excited about training camp, which is weird to hear from a 14th-year veteran.“We feel great about where our team is at, and we’re looking forward to training camp,” Juszczyk said last week at the American Century Championship, where he made his third appearance on the golf course and came in 50th.It capped off a whirlwind couple of weeks when Juszczyk made an appearance at Tight End University — thus the question mark on his position above — at the behest of summit organizers Travis Kelce and teammate George Kittle. And then he and his wife, Kristin, attended the social event of the year, the wedding of Kelce and pop star/music mogul Taylor Swift. They signed NDAs before the wedding, so he was asked about a fullback being the only non-tight end at Tight End University. Is Juszczyk finally emerging as a tight end?No … not really. Can Mac Jones still be a long-term starter in the NFL?Derrik Klassen“There is so much crossover with tight ends’ and fullbacks’ responsibilities,” Juszczyk said, “and George and Travis asked me to come in and teach a fullback class. A lot of tight ends spend time in the backfield now, and it was a really cool, fun experience.”A 10-time Pro Bowl selection at fullback, Juszczyk wears a lot of different hats in Kyle Shanahan’s offense. Last season, he lined up in the backfield for 169 snaps, where a tight end would be on the line 190 times, in the slot for 159 snaps and out wide 55 times, per Pro Football Focus.Juszczyk would love to be considered a tight end come contract time because they get paid a lot more than fullbacks (he is entering the second year of a two-year contract). But his teammate Kittle said no price can be put on Juszczyk’s value.
