His departure from United came after his arrest in January 2022, for attempted rape, assault, and coercive control.The UK Crown Prosecution Service discontinued the case against him after “a combination of the withdrawal of key witnesses and new material meant there was no longer a realistic prospect of conviction”. Greenwood denied all the allegations against him.The forward scored 26 goals in all competitions last term, including 16 in Ligue 1 to finish joint-second in the golden boot standings.Greenwood joined Marseille from United on a five-year deal in July 2024 and made 76 appearances for the French club, registering 48 goals.He has not played for England since his debut for the senior side in September 2020 as an 18-year-old.Greenwood made 129 total senior appearances for United over three-and-a-half seasons, registering 35 goals and 12 assists.
