With two months before the university term starts, banks are battling it out to persuade students to open an account with them.
Student bank accounts are current accounts for those at university. They often come with an interest-free overdraft and banks also offer perks such as cash sign-up bonuses, railcards and takeaway vouchers in a bid to entice customers.
Santander and Lloyds have just announced their offerings for the new academic year, with the former offering one lucky student the chance to win a £100,000 cash prize.
Every eligible student who opens a Santander Edge Student current account will get a £20 prize, while Lloyds' student account is offering a £100 cash incentive.
However, both are also running prize draws. Santander has a top prize of £100,000 up for grabs, as well as five £10,000 prizes, 50 £1,000 prizes and 1,000 prizes of £100.
