EXCLUSIVE: Adele has reportedly been back in the UK recording new music and is said to be torn between her life in Los Angeles and her hometown of London07:05, 14 Jul 2026Amid rumours new music is on the horizon for Adele, the singer is said to be torn between her life in LA and hometown of London. The songstress, 38, has been back in the capital and rumoured to be recording new music, after spending two years out of the spotlight at her home in Los Angeles.Since her move to Tinstletown in 2016 she’s been happily loved-up with American sports agent Rich Paul, 45, but a source says being back around her roots has been “bittersweet” for the Tottenham girl.“Adele ’s torn because she lives two lives,” they claim. “She lives in California, but she misses her hometown. She’s a down-to-earth home girl at heart and she gets very homesick and misses her family and old mates.”It was 10 years ago Adele upped sticks and relocated to California and she’s said to own several properties stateside. But she shares her main home with fiancé Rich, a stunning £46million mansion she purchased from actor Sylvester Stallone. She also lives there with her 13-year-old son Angelo, from her marriage to ex-husband Simon Konecki. There are a few reasons Adele likes to retreat to the Hollywood hills when she’s not recording, touring or promoting music. One being the sunshine. She previously said, “I get really bad seasonal depression, so the weather is good for me [in LA]. It is strange sometimes, because I’m very British.”She also likes the anonymity she gets in Los Angeles – a place crawling with A-Listers. “I really miss London, but I miss the London from before all of this happened in my life,” she explained.“You get left alone,” she said. “For anyone that has never been to LA, you assume it would be the opposite. But there are so many famous people here that they don’t waste their time.”According to The Sun newspaper Adele is said to have arrived in the UK early last month, preparing for a big musical comeback after a two-year hiatus. They reported that the singer, whose greatest hits include Someone Like You, Set Fire To The Rain and Rolling In The Deep, is writing and recording at Church Studios in north London and collaborating with other artists. A source even told them that reconnecting with her hometown is helping her with her next record.“Adele has been living in LA for a decade now and although she loves it, her roots in London are very important to her,” they said.“People close to her have been encouraging her to reconnect with where she grew up for her new music, because they believe it will help inspire something different.”As well as working in the recording studio, Adele fitted in time to attend the British Grand Prix at Silverstone while in the UK. She went for a casual look at the Formula 1 event, wearing a McLaren T-shirt, shades and a necklace which spelled out the word “Mummy”.Back home in America, Adele has a happy life with Rich, and she announced they are engaged when on stage in Munich back in August 2024. Addressing a fan who was holding up a sign asking to marry her, she said, “I can’t marry you – because I’m already getting married!”She has also called him her “husband” publicly on many occasions. And our source said she’s “never been happier”.“She’s the girl next door who’s had this amazing fame and talent, and is loved the world over. She never expected it. She loves her life with Rich, she’s never been happier and she wants this to work and be forever.“He’s opened her mind to other stuff. She was all about singing, but now he’s opened so many different doors. She’s loving different sports and enjoying life and has a totally different view on things. He’s really enriched her life and she’s very happy.”Adele is a happy mum of one, previously describing motherhood as “the greatest thing I ever did”. And our source says the star would love to “settle down and have more children” with the sports agent in the future.Speaking on radio programme Desert Island Discs, Adele appeared to confirm her plans to expand her family, telling host Lauren Laverne, “I definitely would like a couple more kids. It would be wonderful if we can. If not, I have got Angelo. I just want to be happy.”Like this story?
