MANILA, Philippines – The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) is offering emergency loans to 485 active members and old-age and disability pensioners in Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro, after the municipality was placed under a state of calamity due to a prolonged dry spell and water shortage.
Puerto Galera declared a state of calamity in mid-June as the lingering effects of El Niño triggered water shortages.

In a statement, GSIS said qualified borrowers with existing emergency loans may borrow up to P40,000 to settle their outstanding balances and receive up to P20,000 in net proceeds. Those without an existing emergency loan may borrow up to P20,000.FEATURED STORIES
