Argentina's Liopnel Messi is one of the shorter players at 1.70 at the World Cup, but he is leading the goal charts.
Lionel Messi has achieved just about everything possible in a glorious career, but the 39-year-old Argentinian great has never faced England — he will finally get that chance in Wednesday's monumental World Cup semi-final.
Messi won his 200th international cap for the Albiceleste during their group-stage victory against Algeria, and the diminutive playmaker now dreams of captaining his country to the global showpiece once again as his remarkable international career reaches its twilight.
It has been a staggering journey that initially began when he was a fresh-faced 18-year-old in 2005. Having broken into the Barcelona first team late the previous year, Messi had just starred for Argentina as they captured the Under-20 World Cup in the Netherlands.
He was subsequently handed his senior international bow by Jose Pekerman in an August friendly against Hungary in Budapest, replacing Lisandro Lopez in the 64th minute to partner Hernan Crespo up front.
