The new foreign minister criticises 'activism' in the Middle East and backs NATO spending targets

NATO is stronger after last week’s summit with Donald Trump in Turkey, Slovenia’s new foreign minister, Tone Kajzer, told Euractiv during a visit to Berlin.

More than a month into his tenure, Kajzer also outlined how he intends to approach the Middle East differently from the previous Slovenian government.

The experienced diplomat, who served as Slovenia’s ambassador to Washington until 2022, said that NATO delivered a good result for the alliance. “We had a very positive outcome; the alliance is stronger than before,” he said.

He attributed this in part to the presence of Trump, the US president, who, he said, had been “constantly present” during the constructive discussions.
