Iran struck two UAE supertankers in the Strait of Hormuz, killing one Indian crew member and injuring eight others, including four seriously.

The attack caused fires aboard both vessels, which have since been brought under control.

Oil prices surged to a four-week high following the latest exchange of fire between the US and Iran.

A separate tanker was struck by an unknown projectile 40 nautical miles north-east of Oman's Qalhat, with all crew reported safe.
