Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate

The Federal Government has disclosed that it granted more than N6bn in tax waivers to 47 Nigerian pharmaceutical manufacturers under the Presidential Executive Order on Health Products as part of efforts to accelerate local production of medicines and reduce Nigeria’s dependence on imported pharmaceuticals.

The government also revealed that 115 pharmaceutical manufacturers have so far been enrolled in the incentive programme and are eligible to benefit from the Executive Order, with additional firms currently being onboarded.

The disclosures were contained in the State of the Health of the Nation Report published by the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, which highlighted key milestones recorded in implementing reforms to strengthen Nigeria’s healthcare manufacturing sector.

The report was exclusively obtained by our correspondent in Abuja on Monday. According to the report, the tax incentives were implemented between March and August 2025.
