Shares of power producers rose as traders rotated into sectors with less to lose from a spike in oil prices.

Shares of Australian utility AGL Energy fell after analysts at brokerage Macquarie said the company would feel the sting from an oversupply of electricity in the antipodean nation, where power prices are at five-year lows.
