Graham unexpectedly died on Saturday evening after suffering from an aortic dissection, according to Washington, D.C.’s medical examiner’s office. Graham had been previously diagnosed with arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease and had a family history of heart disease. The senior South Carolina senator was 71.President Donald Trump recommended Monday morning that McMaster appoint Graham’s sister, Darline Graham Nordone, to fill the vacancy. McMaster is expected to follow Trump’s recommendation, according to Politico.
