Here’s hoping the hosts of “Fox & Friends” took the opportunity to catch up on emails, use the restroom, pour a cup of coffee, unjam a printer or even attend an office birthday party during President Donald Trump’s awkwardly long on-air rant. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), who died Sunday at the age of 71 from aortic dissection due to arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease.“Mr. President, I’m really sorry for our country’s loss,” co-host Ainsley Earhardt began. “I know you lost one of your closest friends and an ally in the Senate. He was a total workaholic politician; some people don’t call that work. Some people call that a lot of talking.”Soon after Trump classified Graham as a chatterbox, Trump himself couldn’t stop talking — and proceeded to ramble for nearly six minutes. At first, Trump stuck to the topic and spoke about how Graham was an advocate of Trump’s sought-after voter ID bill, the SAVE America Act — but quickly got distracted by his hatred for Democrats and how they have “Trump derangement syndrome.” Things devolved from there. After wrapping up his diatribe about the SAVE America Act, he went on to talk about reality TV star Spencer Pratt losing his bid for mayor of Los Angeles, then back to the SAVE America Act and onto the California elections again. Trump even out-talked the montage, and when it wrapped, the show just aired a photo of Trump with the words “On the phone: President Donald Trump, the 47th president of the United States.” At three points in Trump’s rant, the hosts tried to wrangle him by interjecting with questions about Graham, but the president talked over them.“So Mr. President, real quickly, did you notice anything different from Lindsey over the phone?” co-host Lawrence Jones said on the third attempt, but Trump just plowed over his question.“Oh, hmm,” Jones could be heard muttering as Trump kept yapping. Finally, on the fourth attempt, co-host Griff Jenkins got Trump to shut up — and got things back on track by asking a question about Graham.Watch the whole embarrassing exchange below.
