The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will organise Hanuman Chalisa recitals and Shri Ram-Hanuman aarti across 250 wards in the Capital from Tuesday, demanding punishment for the accused in the Ram Temple donation theft. This is part of the signature campaign launched by the party on Sunday calling for strict punishment for those involved in chanda chori (theft of offerings) at the Ayodhya temple.“From Tuesday, Hanuman Chalisa will be recited at 250 wards across Delhi, followed by aarti of Prabhu Shri Ram and Hanuman ji. After the prayers, discussions will be held with people about the chanda chori at the Ayodhya Shri Ram Mandir and the attempts to shield those responsible,” AAP Delhi president Saurabh Bharadwaj said. “A signature campaign will then be launched across all 250 wards by collecting signatures on the letter addressed to the Prime Minister. Local leaders, MLAs, councillors and party karyakartas will participate in the programmes organised in every ward. Together, everyone will pray that those who committed chanda chori in Ram Lalla’s house are hanged,” he added. Delhi BJP president Harsh Malhotra had termed the campaign a “political gimmick”.
