Following a meeting of the Coalition of the Willing in Paris, French President Emmanuel Macron announced new measures to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense and the launch of a long-term program to modernize Ukraine’s combat aviation.

According to a Ukrinform correspondent, Macron made this announcement after a meeting of the coalition leaders.

“In the area of air defense, this involves the acquisition of the first batch of next-generation batteries, which will complement the systems to be delivered along with missiles in the coming weeks,” Macron noted.

According to him, France and Ukraine have also agreed on the modernization of Ukraine’s military aviation.

“This involves a project to acquire 16 Rafale aircraft and their accompanying weapon systems. The first flights could take place as early as 2028–2029, and personnel training will begin in the coming months,” Macron emphasized.
