The Ekiti State Executive Council has approved N16.75bn for road reconstruction, upgrades and solar-powered streetlight projects across the state.
The Commissioner for Information, Taiwo Olatunbosun, disclosed this in a statement on Monday after the Executive Council meeting, saying the projects were aimed at improving road infrastructure, enhancing connectivity and accelerating socio-economic development.
According to him, the council approved N14.309bn for two major road projects in Ado Ekiti and the Ekiti South-West/Ekiti West axis.
The projects include N12.576bn for the reconstruction of the 18.83-kilometre Ilawe–Erijiyan–Ikogosi Road, which links Ekiti South-West and Ekiti West Local Government Areas.
Olatunbosun said, “The project is expected to improve the movement of people and goods, enhance the security of lives and property, facilitate easier access to the Ikogosi Warm Springs Resort and other tourism assets, and stimulate economic activities along the corridor.
