Billie Joe Armstrong is turning one of punk rock’s most recognizable guitar sounds into a signature Marshall amplifier.
Marshall has unveiled the 1959BJA Artist Signature, a handwired, 100-watt amp developed with the Green Day frontman and modeled in part on the guitar tone heard during the band’s “Dookie” era. The release marks Marshall’s first artist-signature amplifier in 14 years.
The baby-blue amp was first spotted behind Armstrong during Green Day’s opening act performance at the 2026 Super Bowl. It will officially go on sale July 21 on Marshall’s website for $3,999.99.
Built on Marshall’s handwired 1959HW platform, the 1959BJA features a custom “Dookie Mod” inspired by the sound Armstrong developed with producer Rob Cavallo around Green Day’s 1994 breakthrough album. According to Marshall, the modification adds gain, tighter low frequencies and a more saturated punch while retaining the foundation of a classic plexi-style amplifier.
