Tobago police officer Kernel Dates will appear before a virtual court today facing two charges: wounding with intent and causing grievous bodily harm to 37-year-old Osae Murray.Murray was allegedly shot by the officer on June 8 in Bloody Bay, Tobago, during Crop Over Harvest celebrations.The Police Complaints Authority (PCA) interviewed a number of persons and received statements in connection with the case following the incident.The gunshot wound caused extensive internal injuries, resulting in the removal of one of Murray’s kidneys, significant damage to his liver, and injuries to his remaining kidney.Reports indicate the officer allegedly feared for his life after Murray attempted to strike him with a bamboo during an altercation between the two men.Murray was taken to the Roxborough Hospital for emergency medical treatment before being transferred to the Scarborough General Hospital.
