The Oyo State Police Command has launched a joint security operation to rescue a farmer, identified as Owoade Mathew, who was abducted in Igbojaye Community in Oorelope Local Government Area of the state.
PUNCH Online had earlier reported that gunmen kidnapped the 60-year-old headmaster of Nomadic Basic School, Igbojaye, Budo Aare, popularly known as Onaiye, and had demanded a ransom of N30m for his release.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, said the command had also commenced a comprehensive investigation into the incident.
According to the police, a distress report was received at about 9:50 a.m. on Sunday from the Officer-in-Charge of the Igbojaye Police Outpost after the farmer failed to return home from his farm.
