Mohsen Araki, a member of the Assembly of Experts and the Expediency Discernment Council, has issued a call for revenge following the killing of Ali Khamenei, declaring that shedding the blood of Donald Trump, Benjamin Netanyahu, and those associated with them is “obligatory.” Speaking on Monday, July 13, Araki stated that Trump and Netanyahu top the list and that American and Israeli political and military commanders, soldiers, and logistics personnel involved in the conflicts in Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon, Yemen, Iraq, and Iran are subject to a “binding state decree.” He called upon young people worldwide to carry out this ruling.
Araki is an ultraconservative cleric close to the power structure of the Islamic Republic, having previously served as Ali Khamenei’s representative in the United Kingdom and as the head of the Islamic Centre of England. He currently holds positions in two pivotal state bodies: the Assembly of Experts and the Expediency Discernment Council.
During the 2022 nationwide protests, the cleric also demanded severe crackdowns on demonstrators, asserting that even individuals who had not directly committed murder could be charged with “moharebeh” (waging war against God), “mofsed-e-fel-arz” (corruption on Earth), and “baghi” (armed rebellion), offences that carry the death penalty under the laws of the Islamic Republic.
