(Steve Parsons/PA)Twelve people have been arrested following an alleged extreme right-wing terrorist threat against an Islamic event in Shrubland Hall, Suffolk. Police advised organisers of the UK Ijtima event to conclude it earlier than planned on Sunday due to the credible threat. Three men, aged 55, 60, and 82, were arrested in Surrey on suspicion of conspiracy to murder, with a 48-year-old woman arrested in east London for assisting an offender. Eight other men were detained under Section 41 of the Terrorism Act in various locations including Surrey, Essex, Ipswich, Greater Manchester and London. Commander Helen Flanagan of Counter Terrorism Policing London confirmed the swift action, while home secretary Shabana Mahmood condemned the threat and urged unity.
