Esmaeil Baghaei, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic, stated on Monday, July 13, that “avenging” the slain Supreme Leader is a widespread public demand. He asserted that Tehran would continue to pursue legal and political avenues against those responsible for the attacks on Iran.
During his press conference, Baghaei remarked that demanding justice against those involved in the strikes on Iran is “a core principle” and that ending the impunity of the perpetrators must remain on the agenda. He accused the United States of persisting with its military actions against Iran.
The Foreign Ministry spokesperson accused Washington of violating understandings reached regarding the Strait of Hormuz. He claimed that the Americans had failed to wait even for the conclusion of the one-month window designated for Iran to implement its commitments. Baghaei added that as long as the opposing side breaches its obligations, the Islamic Republic will not adhere to the memorandum of understanding.
Reacting to the joint statement issued by the United Kingdom, France, and Germany condemning Iranian attacks on commercial vessels and regional countries, Baghaei declared the statement “completely illegitimate.” He accused European nations of distorting reality, attributed the current regional crisis to U.S. and Israeli attacks launched last March, and stated that such declarations do not resolve the crisis.
