President Cyril Ramaphosa has made the most of his trip to Paris over the weekend, packing in several engagements which were intended to reflect the strong and comprehensive relationship between South Africa and France.

The visit is also meant to underpin the cooperation between the two countries at national, regional and multilateral levels.

He was accompanied by the first lady, Dr Tshepo Motsepe, and Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Minister Ronald Lamola, the Minister of Defence and Military Veterans, Angie Motshekga; the Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure, Dean MacPherson; the Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture, Gayton McKenzie; the Minister of Higher Education and Training, Buti Manamela; and senior officials.

The president not only laid a wreath at the South African National Memorial in Longueval, France, during the 110th Commemoration of the Battle of Delville Wood, but he also addressed a meeting of the High-Level Steering Committee on Education alongside the Director-General of UNESCO and attended the Transforming Education Summit as part of his official visit.
