Bulgarian students won five medals at the 56th International Physics Olympiad (IPhO), held in Bucaramanga, Colombia, the Ministry of Education and Science announced.
The Bulgarian national team achieved an impressive result at one of the world’s most prestigious student science competitions, earning four silver medals and one bronze. The event brought together more than 380 participants from around 90 countries.
The silver medalists were 10th-grade student Svetoslav Arabov from the Mathematical High School “Dr. Petar Beron” in Varna, Yordan Petkov from the American College in Sofia, 12th-grader Alexander Nikolov from the Professional High School of Computer Modeling and Miroslav Draganov from the “Acad. Nikola Obreshkov” Mathematics and Science High School in Burgas.
The bronze medal was awarded to Petar Popov, a 12th-grade student at the “Yane Sandanski” Mathematics and Science High School in Gotse Delchev.
The Bulgarian team was led by Prof. Dr. Miroslav Abrashev and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Neno Todorov from the Faculty of Physics at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski.”
